The Gerald McGavin UBC Rugby Club is a 3500 square foot building with bright sourthern views of the Thunderbird Athletic Commons. Floor to ceiling glass doors open onto outdoor seating for 300 viewers on game days. The main floor interior is used for special events, rugby functions, meeting spaces and public washrooms. The backdrop of the wet bar is dedicated to a visual display of rugby, a timeline recording milestones in the history of the sport at UBC.
The building's north face takes advantange of a 2-metre cross slope for at-grade entrances to team change rooms. Its' proximity to UBC athletic facilities allow for close interaction within the university's landscape of large single purpose buildings including ice rinks, tennis bubbles and gymnasia.
