Mountain Equipment Co-Op asked PUBLIC to design a retail display unit that would feature seasonal promotions. The unit had to be flexible so that it could accommodate a range of product and merchandise that ranged in scale from very small to very large objects, plus graphics and mannequins. The goal was to create a self-contained unit, easy to move, configure, and made of material that is keeping with MEC's environmental core values. PUBLIC decided to use Plyboo, a bamboo plywood, where the design expresses its unique veneer and cross-section. Stainless steel posts can be placed in a variety of locations in the base unit for further layout options. Plyboo shelves attach to the posts with custom hardware designed by PUBLIC. All extra shelves and hardware can be easily stored in the base unit when not being used.
